La Villa 2019

You know it's going to be good snow when it snows in London the night before.

18 Adventurers kicked off their choose2ski adventure to return to a favourite ski resort, La Villa. We returned too, to a favourite hotel, the Hotel Dolomiti where once again, we were very well looked after.

To get to La Villa, most adventurers flew into Venice. We wandered around the beautiful, watery city for a few hours before collecting rental cars for the 3 hour journey to La Villa.

Of course, an adventure would not be an adventure without something unforeseen in the form of a massive snow dump. This snow dump was heavy enough to close the main and direct route to La Villa. Luckily, the ever helpful Alessia from the Hotel Dolomiti kept us informed about the situation, and gave us an alternative route to get to the hotel.

This alternative route proved to be the most challenging drive up and over a series of mountains, where the weather changed from sunny in Venice to rain and then to snow. The roads varied from dry to wet to icy, to snowy.

Nerves were shredded but we mostly made it. All except Sabrina.. :-(
She had to drive to La Villa from the opposite direction and found eventually that the snow had completely blocked her route.

And that's the end of our adventure in La Villa! Thank you all for coming! choose2ski definitely wouldn't quite be choose2ski without you. And I'd have to go and organise something else, like a Slimathon or two.

I suspect that for many of you, this was a favourite resort of yours. And it had a lot to do with the skiing here, as well as the hospitality at the hotel. Perhaps we should return in 2021?

This time, we didn't lose any drunken skiers on the mountain. But we had quite a session in the hotel that resulted in man days of skiing lost for some, as well as a member of the hotel staff that had to call in sick the next day. We take everybody down with us!

We had a James Bond themed fancy dress party that went well. But I don't remember any Vodka Martinis being drunk, although we did play Poker - Casino Royale style. Although everyone was armed with (water) pistols, no super-criminal got killed. So much for 'Licenced to Kill'..
