Did you see that jet streak across the top, in the picture above? Now that I think about it, that streak just might be Super Alberto. This would explain why his seat on the airplane was empty...
Not for us, the cryptic NotAndorra type code. We just decided to keep it simple and we called it LaVilla2017.
30 Adventurers descended upon La Villa, in Italy for a special trip. It was very special for choose2ski because Italy was a new destination that we had not organised to go to before. La Villa was a new resort that we had not been to before as a group. And even the hotels had not been visited beforehand.
It took extra special planning and extra help from Clare Anchois to pull this off.
It became very special for everyone on the trip for so many reasons, from the superb service from both The Hotel and Residence La Villa as well as The Hotel Dolomiti. And perhaps even more special because some of us visited Venice and became tourists for a day.
The group got to 30 people and so we ended up having to take up two hotels, along with a bracing 1.5 mile walk between them! We visited at a point in the season where La Villa had the least amount of snow that they had known in many years and yet, their snow cannons and piste bashers kept the slopes well groomed.
LaVilla2017 lost adventurers faster than Tributes in The Hunger Games. Anna and David N were injured in pre-La Villa skiing and would not be skiing with us. And then on the slopes, we had twisted and tweaked knees, a strained ankle and a broken wrist. And yet, typically, we were still determined to have a great time, whether skiing or eating and drinking...
We had just the greatest time and we are pleased that all the beginners from last year's NotAndorra2016 improved with even the injured Rahman able to put in turns on a fairly difficult Blue. If he had not been injured early on, he would surely have improved further. And did I mention Italian coffee? Ohh. Or some people drinking so much alcohol that they lost track of time on the mountain? One person had had so much to drink that he had to be loaded on to a Piste Basher to be taken down the slope...
For 2018, we'll organise two trips. It's definitely on for Canada! How's that for even bigger! And even better! The other trip will definitely be European, it's especially important to get our EU trips on even in the face of Brexit...
